Why The Name Kheiron?

Why The Name Kheiron?

The Kheiron symbolism is synonymous with my purpose.

When it came time to name my business, my curated list of options quickly withered as everything was either taken, didn’t resonate within, or fell flat. Using my own name, as many people do, seemed like the most straightforward idea, but it did not fit with what my business is and what I wanted to call it. During my soul searching, one theme showed up that really moved me and the Universe suggested I use the name Chiron. As luck would have it, that name was already used quite a bit, but when I saw the spelling ‘Kheiron’, I immediately knew I found the right moniker for my business and never considered another one.

What Does KHEIRON Mean?

Kheiron is an alternate transliteration of Chiron. Chiron is a celestial body (classified as an asteroid, a minor planet, and a comet) that sits between Saturn and Uranus. It was named after a centaur, the son of Greek Titan Cronus (Saturn) and Philyra, a sea nymph. Chiron was accidentally injured by a poisoned arrow shot by Hercules and spent the rest of his life trying to heal himself, while living in excruciating pain. He consequently became the archetype of the ‘Wounded Healer’. Chiron was finally freed by Zeus and immortalized in the constellation of Centaurus, also called Sagittarius and the centaur became the symbol for this astrology sign. Lastly, Chiron, the minor planet, has an orbit of about 50.45 years and returns to the same place in the sky as when we were born. This phenomenon is called the Chiron Return and is associated with healing, transformation, and the wounded healer archetype.

Sagittarius

My astrological sign is Sagittarius, symbolized by an arrow pointing upward, often representing the centaur’s aiming for higher goals. Chiron was immortalized in the constellation of Centaurus, also known as Sagittarius and so the connection here is obvious. At the time of my birth, my Chiron was in Taurus, the 2nd house, which further drew me to identification with wounded instincts. Furthermore, it’s important for me, and always has been, to live by my own values even if they often go against the mainstream, quite symbolic of Sagittarius.

Wounded Healer

The basic premise of Chiron symbolizing the ‘wounded healer’ is him getting accidentally shot by a poisoned arrow by Hercules and spending the remainder of his life in pain, trying to heal himself.  Through the relentless, but unsuccessful, attempts at his own healing, he was able to help heal many others. He is known for his healing abilities, wisdom, kindness, teaching, and mentorship, which sets him apart from the usually unruly centaurs. Ever since my own ‘wounding’, I identified very strongly with the wounded healer archetype. My tubal surgery was like Hercules’ arrow. My surgeon unintentionally inflicted a wound that would never heal, but one that I would never stop trying to heal myself. I have been on this journey since 2012, so at the time of this writing, close to 12 years.

On this wild ride, I was able to heal myself mentally, emotionally, as well as physically, but some parts of my body will never heal, and new illnesses rooted in the original wounding have emerged or got worse over time, like my chronic pain and fatigue. Through the persistent quest for healing myself, spending thousands of hours researching, trial and error of lifestyle changes, supplements, healing modalities and searching for truth, I have found profound inner peace. I found the truth of who I am, where I came from and live with freedom in my heart and soul. It’s quite likely that I wouldn’t have found myself here, had I not been hit with a ‘poisoned arrow’.

I want to use my skills, knowledge, and experiences to help others heal. Support them on their own healing journey, as ultimately it is a path we need to walk alone. It’s just much nicer to have someone walk beside you, someone who can provide support, unconditional love and acceptance.

Chiron (Kheiron) Return

And finally, it all comes together in Chiron Return. Chiron the planetoid, returns to the same place in the sky about every 50.5 years. That means that it’s in the same exact place as when we were born and symbolizes time for reflection, re-evaluation or our life and goals and taking what we learned and applying it to our next chapter. It’s the merging of the old with the new, integrating our wisdom with new innovations and freedom. If we can open up to the process of accepting what is, our past suffering and wounds will become our healers, our path to awakening and transformation.

Right before I started to work on establishing a Health Coaching and Breathwork business, I felt very restless and had a deep urge within to shift my focus in life to pursuing my passions, to start something new, or go through a major transformation. I didn’t know what it was until I started my Nurse Coaching and then Breathwork certifications. I was turning 50 that year and my breathwork coach, Glenn Girlando, did an astrology reading for me as part of my breathwork coaching. He mentioned my upcoming Chiron Return and went into depth on what it meant. I immediately felt a profound shift within and felt many dots connect. I knew this would have a major meaning for me in the coming years. Within a few weeks the restlessness dissolved, and I dove into reading about Chiron and all associated symbolism. Everything I read (and still do), is like coming home. Things couldn’t resonate more deeply, and that’s how Kheiron Health Coach came to be.

Kheiron to me means guidance, deep understanding of my wounds, and my calling to help others heal.
